Scenery You'll See
This route starts out in Glen Cove on Long Island. As you follow a well paved twisty-turny road through the affluent neighborhoods of Lattingtown and Locust Valley, you'll be seeing some beautiful homes amid brilliant foliage. Continuing north along Bayville Road you'll find many restaurants that offer great local seafood. You'll also drive along the edge of the Long Island Sound where you can pull off and take a walk along the quiet North Shore beach.

After you cross the drawbridge, follow West Shore Road into Oyster Bay. Hugging the Long Island Sound, the road takes you through Oyster Bay Harbor where you can see beautiful boats. If you turn right along any side street you'll be able to enjoy the sights of F. Scott Fitzgerald's literary setting. The Town of Oyster Bay is a great town where you can stop, take a look around and eat a New York bagel or a slice of Long Island's famous Italian Pizza. Heading east is a side trip that you can take to visit Teddy Roosevelt's House at Sagamore Hill. Several miles later southbound on Oyster Bay road, turn east on Northern Boulevard (25A) and travel through the towns of Cold Spring Harbor and Huntington. In Huntington, you can find any type of ethnic food from Sushi, to Italian, Indian, Chinese, or Greek. From downtown Huntington the route will lead you north along West Neck Road to Caumset State Park. At the end of the road you'll see Target Rock, a 14-foot rock at the entrance of Huntington Bay. Legend has it that the British Navy used this rock for target practice. Target Rock has a small rest stop and a nice hike to the water. Once back on 25A, head east to the town of Centerport.

This route abounds with side trips that you can take along well-paved two lane roads winding through some nice estates. A detour anywhere north from off 25A will lead you to wonderful homes with lavishly landscaped properties. Port Jefferson, home of the Ferry to Connecticut, is another great destination on this road trip. To travel black, from Port Jefferson take Route 112 southbound to the Long Island Expressway heading west.
Towns/Cities You'll Pass By/Through
Towns everywhere. Plenty of places to stop and shop, eat, get gas. Does offer some miles of stretches without stop signs or red lights. This is a leisurely route that offers many opportunities to relish the sights and tastes of Long Island.
Attractions & Points-of-Interests Along the Way
